Are you making the most of YouTube? (It’s a great way to reach Gen Z.)

Our High School Sophomore guest blogger is back today… his insights on embracing YouTube! You may be missing candidates!

According to Oberlo, Youtube is the second most popular search engine. This may sound different because YouTube tends to be perceived as a video-sharing website, and just that. But YouTube can be used for much, much more.

Yes, it may sound odd, but I use YouTube as a primary search engine. It is much easier, in my opinion, to go straight to a video with comments and likes rather than dig through google ads and click-baity articles. I’m not alone! YouTube is the second most popular search engine and tends to click with my generation.

Companies that build a strong presence on YouTube can gain an advantage when it comes to connecting with Gen Z-ers like me. Here are a few tips based on what  that I like seeing from company’s channels:

  • First, have a channel! Then, constantly upload content to bring attention to your company

  • Embrace positive social media virality,  like sharing  videos of employees having fun on the job (within reason).  But remember, when hiring bad publicity is detrimental.)

  • View YouTube as another search engine. By creating videos and ads, you can certainly find success if you put in enough effort!

  • Make your content less staged, more natural.

  • Keep videos short and informative. (Shorter tends to lead to more clicks!)

If your videos aren’t on YouTube, you may be missing out on key opportunities when it comes to employment and marketing. My advice? Have fun with this new way of sharing  information!
