Ghostbusting during your recruiting process

Seeing a high number of candidates “ghost” you during the recruiting process? Too many people starting your application but not finishing it? Try something new. Talk to your rejected candidates or those who dropped out during the process to get an understanding of the experience from their vantage point. Here are 3 potential responses you might hear – and how to fix them.

1 - Speed. Some other entity moved faster and made an offer before you did. The solution? Work with your team to identify and remove bottlenecks.

2 - Confusion. Either the job description doesn't match what the title said. Or it says "remote" in the posting and "onsite" in the description. The solution? Review your postings to make sure the language matches. A lot has changed during the pandemic. Have your standard job descriptions and posting verbiage kept up with remote, hybrid, and onsite requirements?

3 - TMI. You asked for too much information before they were "hooked," causing them to abandon the process because other application sites were easier (and didn't ask them for their supervisor's email and phone number from 10 years ago). Solution: Review your application – check out my previous post When was the last time you applied for a job?
