Reskilling is the key to future success
Here’s a stat that may surprise you. Eighty-five percent — almost 9 in 10 — jobs that will exist in 2030 have not been created yet, according to research by Dell Technologies. AI is changing work as we know it — and it’s rapidly creating new opportunities.
Another stat reinforces the dramatic changes that we’re experiencing. More than 30% of the skills needed three years ago will soon be irrelevant, according to a Gartner study. The solution can’t be to lay off workers and hire people with different skills every time needs change. Instead, companies need to become more adept at reskilling their current teams and upskilling new hires to fill evolving jobs.
So, where do you start?
1) Inventory the skills in your workforce today at the individual, department, and company levels.
2) Analyze the external labor market and how it will affect your workforce now and into the future. Keep in mind: Demographic changes are going to continue to put pressure on finding talent.
3) Determine the gaps between the skills you will need vs. the skills your current workforce has.
4) Map out how to use existing training and development, technology, and educational partners to address those gaps by reskilling your workforce at pace and scale.
