Get back to the basics

I have done several “Candidate Experience Audits” for companies lately, and they have reminded me that we need to focus on the basics.  IF we don’t have the basics down, the best tech, the flashiest job description, and the best benefits and compensation won’t matter.

Here are 5 basics for ensuring your hiring process is functioning at its best:

  1. Every job is posted with clear requirements, location, remote status, and pay.

  2. The application process is simple –collecting just what is needed at each step. (And more importantly, applications can be submitted on a mobile phone.)

  3. Your recruiters are out front, with the person working the job clearly provided for every posting, so applicants can reach out if they have a question.

  4. Everyone that applies is seen as a person and is treated with respect and kindness throughout the process, including when they are not moved forward.

  5. Communication is clear and ever present throughout the process, with clear next steps and timeframes. EVERY candidate receives a message regarding each role as  they apply.

What are your basics? Add them to the list!
